While Virginia already chose its primary candidates for U.S. president in the March Super Tuesday election, June’s primary focuses on congressional elections and local offices where applicable.
Kaine was not challenged by another member of his party, so there was no Democratic primary for his U.S. Senate seat. Kaine and Jonathan Hardin, who is running as an independent, are already on the ballot for the Nov. 5 general election.
