A new timeline has been established for U.S. citizens to obtain proper travel authorization, beyond their passports, for visiting certain parts of Europe.
Travelers planning short stays in the Schengen Area, which includes dozens of European countries such as France, Germany, Italy and Spain, will soon need to obtain pre-travel clearance through the European Travel Information and Authorization System, or ETIAS.
