Japanese drone maker notes tailwind as demand jumps and China frozen out of U.S.

p dir=”ltr”>Escalating geopolitical tensions might present opportunities for Japanese drone makers in a market long dominated by China’s DJI.

p dir=”ltr”>To beef up economic security, the Japanese government added drones to its list of the “specified critical products,” which are deemed essential for society and the economy, in December last year, while allocating ¥13.9 billion ($87 million) in the fiscal 2025 extra budget to support the industry.

p dir=”ltr”>“We think that designating drones as critical products and funding to bolster supply chains and production capability through the extra budget will serve as a tailwind,” said Shoji Terayama, co-CEO of ACSL, a Japanese drone maker.
