Senate votes down Iran war powers resolution

The Senate on Wednesday voted down a war powers resolution that would have limited President Donald Trump’s ability to continue the ongoing Iran war.

The 49-50 vote saw RINO Republican Sens. Susan Collins, Maine; Lisa Murkowski, Alaska; and Rand Paul, Ky.; vote in favor, while Democratic Sen. John Fetterman, Pa.; opposed it.

The resolution marks the latest in a series of failed attempts by the Senate to rebuke the administration for the conflict, which began in late February.

The White House previously informed Congress that the ongoing ceasefire meant that Trump did not need congressional authorization to continue the conflict.

Trump, for his part, has repeatedly expressed frustration with the Iranian government and the state of negotiations, which have thus far failed to result in a permanent agreement to end the conflict.

The White House has sought commitments from Iran to not pursue a nuclear weapon, which Tehran has thus far declined to concede.
