China and the United States should be partners rather than rivals, President Xi Jinping said after arriving in Washington on Wednesday, state news agency Xinhua reported.
With joint efforts, the U.S. visit is sure to be fruitful, Xi said in written remarks, according to Xinhua.
Xi is in Washington for a state visit and is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday. The summit follows U.S.-China talks aimed at resolving outstanding issues and potentially extending a trade truce that expires Nov. 10 or reaching a trade agreement.
