Our family and friends visited this temple yesterday (11/3/2026) after 2 weeks visiting and cruising to various cities in Japan.There are many beautiful temples, shrines, and pagodas in Japan and Korea.
If you can only visit one temple in Busan, then it should definitely be this one. The stunning 650 year old Buddhist temple sits directly on the coastline overlooking the sea where you can see waves crashing on the rocks below. It’s literally straight out of a painting.
Haedong Yonggungsa is the most famous temple in Busan and when you see it in person, you’ll understand why. I highly recommend visiting early in the morning to avoid crowds as it’s one of the most visited sites in the city.
Since it’s a bit far to get here out of the city center, we booked this excursion as part of a private customizable tour which I can’t recommend enough in Busan. It allows you to create your own itinerary and move from spot to spot efficiently without the hassle of constantly having to call new cars at every place.
